A Breath of Fresh Air

This month at the Lasting Memories scrapbooking challenge blog we are being challenged to create something using the above photo including any of the colours, shapes and/or elements..

A Breath of Fresh Air

Firstly I want to start by mentioning that due to lighting the colours aren't quite popping as much as they do in real life and the pinks on the Flamingo are much nicer too. ekk..

Anyway, I checked out the newest challenge released on the Lasting Memories challenge blog today. Their first challenge for the month was released and it fit perfectly with a "just add paper" pack that I got from D-Lish Scraps not long ago.. And I knew this photo would fall onto the layout perfectly too!

So I started by spraying the light teal base with some white mist and then inked in patches with a small script stamp to match in the inspiration piece..
Then for the triangle elements I cut up an old Amy Tangerine paper pad.. Two big triangles and 6 smaller ones layered across the middle of the page to make a feature for the base.

A fun triangle banner stencil was next with some modelling paste and micro beads..
Some washi tape under the photo.. Added in the tags and flair buttons..
Both of the chipboard pieces are gorgeous designs from Memory Maze. I coloured them using Faber-Castell Gelatos. The Hot Air Balloon has Metallic Melon and the title has Margarita..

I tried to add as many things as possible onto my layout as possible. I found this photo inspiration really caught my eye, so wanted to try to capture those on the page too.

Thanks for letting me share this layout with you tonight. I hope you liked it and hope you'll be inspired to drop on over to the Lasting Memories Scrapbooking challenge blog to link up your own creation too..

You are my moon and all my stars

My boys are my wonder..
They are my universe..
My moon and all of my stars!

This month at Scrap The Boys they are challenging us to use this as our inspiration -

As soon as I saw this, I knew I wanted to create!
I fumbled around for a while trying to figure out a base / background but just couldn't find the right fit for the inspiration picture which I love!

However a few weeks ago, the boys and I tried out a new art style. We used some spray paints to create some cool efforts.. So I used one of these as the base for this layout.. How cool is it that they contributed to this layout too..

You are my moon and all my stars

All I can say is WOW!
This has turned out in real life better than I could have ever imagined!!!
WOW!

First off I started with a grey cardstock and added some of this art piece the boys and I made and also added a pattern paper off cut scrap piece from my stash that matches in with all the colours.
Oooo don't forget that strip of washi popping out from underneath the paper at the bottom..

Some modelling paste with a mini stencil add some texture and that pop of stars.. I added some clear glitter to that too before it dried, it sparkles - SO PRETTY!

In my big craft room clean up the other week I found these awesome star die cuts that I had forgot about and knew straight away when I saw this challenge they would be perfect for it.
I slipped in a purple tag under the photo. My secret to keeping it from falling out is actually a tiny glue dot in the bottom corner of the photo.. It holds it in place so it doesn't fall out when the layout is picked up.

The chipboard moon pieces were coloured with Faber-Castell Gelato Silver Ice and then watered down a little.
Silver corner edges on the top and a transparent plastic flower shape at the top under the photo adds yet another texture and element layer..

This challenge is running the whole month at the Scrap The Boys challenge blog, so please make sure you drop over to check out the DT creations and get crafty yourself.. I'm so glad I finally got this layout to be even better than I thought it could.. It catches the eye all everywhere and hey, I maybe a little bias as it features Hunter (my moon) and Lane (my stars) but this is probably my favourite and best layout I have done in a long time!!!!

Tonight I'm kicking off the layouts with a challenge entry into the White With One challenge blog..
Yep, I'm back with one of my old favourite blogs.. I'm not all that great at white space but have been trying to get better..

#handsome

For this challenge we have been given an extra inspiration to use on our layouts.
Everything on this layout is Royal Blue & White except for the photo frame strip and the cassette tag which have black.

I started off this layout with white cardstock and some blue on top. Spraying some Mr Huey's white mist to pop that white back on and some Faber-Castell Gelato Coconut smudged around the page also. Next was to colour the chipboard title with the Gelato too.

For the extra inspiration elements, I added in the frames and boarder strip.
Instead of bling & tulle, I added in a boy version with the pompom type ribbon and twine on the edge of the blue cardstock.

This photo was taken about 12 months ago with my boys on Christmas Day at the local beach here in Yeppoon. It was a stunning day and I am still having so much pleasure scrapping the photos from our mini photo shoot.
The last main element I added in are the two large tags inside the pocket under the photo.

Righto, now do yourself a favour and head on over to the White With One challenge blog, you'll quickly see why it's one of my favourites to follow and link up when I get the chance.. Now that I am back into crafting again after such a huge break, I'm hoping to link up more in the coming months..

Just Add Ink 446

Welcome back scrappy friends.
A beautiful weekend was had here. A bit wet but thankfully all of my activities & duties were inside. Which of course meant perfect time for crafting also. YAY!

My target this month is to get back into creating more often. I want to enter a couple of challenges this month to get the crafting flowing again, hopefully a bit better than it has lately.. I am very much enjoying the process of late and am having fun finding some inspiration.
Inspiration was definitely found today with the Just Add Ink challenge.. Seriously, how awesome is this photo! I knew this was one I wanted to enter as soon as I saw it on Friday when it was released..

First off I grabbed some white cardstock and embossed for the background. Then using some Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Broken China" I added that blueish colour to the base like the photo.
Next was to create a "table for the vase of flowers to sit on", so with some modelling paste and a stencil I made that circle / sunray and added some little micro-beads for colour accents. A metal flower represents the "metal vase" and the yellow feather adds the texture wow factor while featuring as the yellow thing hanging across the table.
In the photo, the big flower that jumped out to me was the beautiful red one, so I made that the biggest of the cluster with some red hessian piece I had in my stash, die cut it and hot glued the button to it. (I have to admit getting this idea from an actual packet of crafting flowers I had bought.) Some more hot glue on to the smaller flowers,  I believe they are Kaiser.
I have left the tag blank for now so that I can write or add the sentiment for the occasion when I use it. The front was then matted on red cardstock before finishing on the orange cardstock card base.

Thank you for dropping by today. I hope you like the card and am keen to see you back soon.
Don't forget to drop over to the Just Add Ink blog for more on this challenge and keep updated with their weekly challenges..
