Marvel themed Altered Mouse Trap

About a week or so ago, Hunter and I were doing our usual Pinterest searching for cool ideas that we would like to try.. During our search, he found some Altered Mouse Traps that he though was pretty awesome.. Thankfully his Dad works at a Hardware store, so we were able to jump into the car and see Daddy at work while picking up some crafting materials.. lol..

Unfortunately when we got home it didn't take long for Hunter to fall asleep and have an afternoon nap.. But I stuck to the plans of making a Mouse Trap and made one especially just for him using his Marvel papers and Iron Man as inspiration..
(but don't worry, we still have two more that he can make and help with!)

I started off by applying Gesso to the base.. Then to cover any imperfections, I sprayed lightly with a yellow mist, heavily with a Red mist and finished off once dry with a Black mist..

I tore a small strip of leftover Marvel paper and stuck to the base on the right top side..
The chipboard Fence Wire piece was coated with some Gesso, dried then coloured with a Yellow ink pad.. The Hot Glue Gun came out to play!! :)
I couldn't seem to cover the "H" chipboard piece as solid black as I really wanted, so I pulled out a re-inker bottle and used that directly onto the piece, then used a paint brush to spread and smooth it over.. The black beads and metal embellishment clusters were added and the small Marvel squares at the bottom  finished off this project nicely..

Don't forget to cover to the back too!

Hunter LOVED his special creation when he woke up.. He is very excited to get started on making one himself now too..

Final Christmas cards - by Toni, Lane & Hunter

Here are the final Christmas cards for 2015..
My boys and I were invited to the last Card Class at A CRAFTERS PASSION in Rockhampton, Qld.. I was a little tired due to the school holidays having taken a toll already (only a couple of weeks in.. lol)  however I did get one card completed, the centre card with some folds..

The cards to the left were created by Lane and the cards on the right were completed by Hunter..
They both had such an awesome time and Hunter certainly felt very special to have finally been able to come up and do some "scrapbookings stuff" at the shop with me and the other lovely ladies..
Hunter didn't quite get the idea of the 3D look, he preferred to use all the cut outs individually.. :)

Thank you for dropping by today.. I would love for you to join me on my Facebook page also if you haven't already...
Cheers, hope everyone is enjoying their school holidays.. Toni..

RAK Christmas Cards

This past Christmas, my boys and I decided to share some Holiday Cheer... In my local town, there had been reports of a variety of people "Paying It Forward".. This is such a lovely thing to read and hear about as I am very passionate myself about this project.. We wanted to add to the spirit, so gave away these Christmas cards to random strangers.

All of these cards were made by me, AT A CLASS! I don't do anything with cards that I make in class other than put them in a box and then store in the cupboard.. lol..
Really, what better way to use them!!!!! :)

One of the "things to do" on my list for 2016 is to go through all of my swap cards and class cards, organise them and share them forward to some of the local Nursing homes or Charities.
I have always thought it was a shame that such beautiful work had been going to waste for so long, but now my boys and I are going to set it right and hopefully put a smile on someone else face too!

What do you do with your swap or class cards????
Would you like to that up this challenge to forward on your cards too??

Don't forget to join me at the Facebook page..
 Toni.. xoxo

Art Journal Page - Believe

Yesterday I brought to you the idea of my Fairy Garden... Well to start the year off with some fun, I made this beautiful Fairy Themed "Believe" art journal page to express the project ahead..

First I started off with the white journal base page.. I added a stencil mask and the pink mist..
Once dry I used the same stencil mask, but on an angle and pasted over some clear Impasto and sprayed with both a light purple and a heavier purple shade, I finished the back off with some glitter while it was still wet..
Next down was the mesh ribbon on the right side.. Using some left over torn scraps from the Kaiser - Fairy Dust collection, I added the white piece at the bottom with the scripts on it and the vertical teal piece..
To embellish the page I used the die-cuts from the same collection and 3D'd them all.
Very last step was to lay the strip of white ribbon on the right side and to glue into my actual Art Journal book.

I have let my Art Journaling slip away last year, so I very much look forward to adding to it with some more pages very soon..

Fairy Garden - The Beginning 2016

This year I have not made any resolutions!!! Instead I have made myself a "year long project"..

Over the entire year (I will be pacing myself.. lol) I will be gathering all sorts of different goodies for a garden outside my bedroom window.. Normally Fairy Gardens are only quite small, but this one is going to be quite big..   I am hoping this will be a space for me to chill out, zone out, sort of a Zen area for the times that I need to just keep thinking positively..

I AM NOT A GARNDERER AT ALL!!!
Just so you all get an understanding of why this is such a big deal to me, this photo is of the garden beforehand.. I refuse to do any gardening.. I don't like plants / flowers or anything else to do with gardens. Honestly!  My Mum put in some fool-hardy and tough plants in here a while a go, with hopes that I wouldn't be able to kill them quite as quickly as I did the last lot, or the lot before that, or before that, or before that -- ehh, you get the idea.. lol

Now with the idea of my project on the way, my Mum was again tasked with the job of clearing out the garden so that I can start off with a clean base.. Seriously, if she didn't the whole lot would have been ripped out and thrown in the bin.. So Mum delicately replanted them in other garden instead.. lol..

This year I intend on sharing some of my progress photos with you while building my Fairy Garden.. I hope you will join me on this journey!! I would LOVE it if you decided to make your own too!! If you do, please LET ME KNOW!! :)

See you again soon... Toni.. xoxo
