Lasting Memories layout challenges this month are celebrating the Daily Holidays, Special & Wacky days.. We want christmas layouts based on a particular subject each challenge.. This challenge though is going to run for two weeks, as we all know how busy the Christmas weeks can be, so we reducing the amounts of challenges and will not release the next one until the end of the month to kick start off the new year..
LM #477 - Use an older photo of yourself and your family.
Hunter's First Christmas 2010
As I mentioned last week in the last DT release, this month I have decided to try to master Layering a bit better than what I have in the past. This one I kept pretty simple actually and didn't bother with over the top sort of layering like I have the others.. Especially next challenge in two weeks time, come back and check it out - IT IS OTT STUNNING!
Anyway, I love to use pastels and colours like pink, even though it is a layout featuring my boys.. I love the softness it can bring to a design.
First off I smeared white gesso on the base and sprayed with a blue mist. This just helps to give extra texture and element to a design to a boring background.
Unfortunately, I have been unable to find any photos of my with my family on Christmas day, so I used this one of my boys instead.. It is from back in 2010, so I'm sure it at least meets that criteria...
Hunter's first Christmas we spent in Agnes Water with family. It happen to be a year that it flooded and there was water all over the yard in any low areas. This little spot in the front was perfect for Lane to slip and slide in and Hunter to enjoy splashing while keeping safe on a body board.
I have really enjoyed being able to use up some very, very old Christmas papers over the past few weeks.. Amazing the stuff that you stash and then decide that "oh not, must not use that. Have to keep for a special project" and then never use it anyway.
I vowed at the start of this year when I started crafting again after my long break, that this was no longer an option and in fact I want to use up the old stuff and use it just as much as anything new that comes into my craft room..
What do you think?
I really hope that you will drop by the blog and check out the inspiration from the rest of the team members and then get creative to link up your own entry.. There is plenty of options for this challenge theme.. Do you have an old Christmas photo laying around somewhere.. lol
Thanks again, Toni.. xoxo
