Back with a different design aspect to a recent swap.. 

As you all know, I like to create something with my own spin on things.. Never a person to settle on seeing what others make and then recreate, I had that special spark again that made me change and add some design aspects to give me a while new card and closure technique.

 Hi crafters, 

I do apologise for the absence lately. 

Life has been busy with my boys plus designing and launching classes at the store "My Scrapbooking Obsession", has had be stepping down from recent DT commitments.

I am back now though! 

However, although I am not currently on any challenge blog online Design Teams, I am still getting plenty of creative time in making SWAPS, designing layouts and cards for classes and of course getting plenty of sparks to create "just because" projects. 

September was fun as I filled the month with different projects.

White with One - Midnight

WHITE WITH ONE - CHALLENGE BLOG

Dude, check this out! How cool is this plain and simple colour combo.. It's as old as time.. I love working with Black and White! 
Realistically, I could have made 10 layouts for this months challenge theme.. 

I had so many ideas, but this was the one that stuck out and I seemed to really be set on. 

Although I was a bit messy and heavy handed in some black blending spots, I think it falls in line with the elements of a boy page anyway.. There are no rules and if it's a big grungy or messy, then that's totally ok! :) 

There are so many layers and frames to this I couldn't even count.. Black on white, on white, on black, on pattern, on white, on black on white.. hahahaha.. 

I used a star stencil and black ink to create the patterns.. 

The photo is of my son Hunter a couple years ago preforming a hip-hop dance at his end of year performance event..

WHITE WITH ONE - CHALLENGE BLOG

This was definitely one of the most fun flat mixed media bases I've done in a long time.. 

Using a simple ink pad and stencil I added the leaf pattern with a blending brush.. 
Then some splat stamping, mixed line stamps and some flicking of paint. 

Still another quick layout, that features the focus on the photo so perfectly that even I have surprised myself at how much I truly love it!!

I title words I wanted to be the second feature but still blend in to a degree. 

Using some tall but thin Thickers letters made this work so well..

Lasting Memories - 543

 

Welcome back.. We are at April already.. Can you believe it? I am blown away how fast the year is flying by to be honest.. 

This week at Lasting Memories we would like to see you use a photo the size of a 4"x4"... You can have one or more..  As you can see by my layout, I chose to add 4 photos.. :) 

LASTING MEMORIES LAYOUT CHALLENGES 

These are the best days 

I loved putting this one together.. The photos were taken recently just a few weeks ago for representative football trials.. They feature the beautiful young Ela, Indie and my son Hunter.. 

All three had a blast!! 

The base of the layout starts off with a piece of white cardstock laying on top of a black frame boarder.. 

Then I cut up a piece of pattern paper, inked each strip and stuck them back down in a different order to create that striped pattern.. 
I placed the photos together on the square black mat and raised it from the layout with some foam tape.  
Finishing it off with a sentiment box and some journaling. 
There really isn't much to this layout, but it is very eye catching and effective.. A beginner can easily do it and a more experience scrapper can add use it as a base to add extra texture or embellishment..

I dug deep for these super cute photos of Hunter when he was little at a local park enjoying the slide.. 

I used the Daydream collection from Cocoa Vanilla and an adorable Wolf pup and flag garland diecut from Scrapbook Fantasies.. It's a simple page but the focus highlights are balanced nicely without too much extras being added.. :)

I have some very exciting news to share.. 
Thanks to the amazing Alicia Redshaw at Scrapbook Fantasies, my imagination for this project came to life with this special custom made BOW CRAZY pack.. You can follow the link to check them out and grab yourself a pack too!! There are 11 pre cut bows from a 12x12 sheet.. The price is very budget friendly too!! - GET BOW CRAZY HERE - 

During a recent instore 3 day retreat young Amelia and I decided we were TEAM NAP and to lay on the floor for a little break.. Although no eyes were shut during our break, there were plenty of giggles and definitely felt recharge afterwards.. 

Using an Ultramarine ink pad I started off by sploshing the background so that it would feature the bow.. 

Then with more white paper I drew the lines and dots on some scrap and then stuck to the top of the bow.. I love that the design elements on this page I handmade especially for it. 

Adding some simple embellishments from a Uniquely Creative pack finished the page off well..

After a couple months of not getting any craftiness done (I'm very good at working ahead and being organised so I still have something to share when I am in this situation) I have been loving getting my mojo back and using these new photos of us during our holiday in Januray..  

The two photos here were captured at a really cool MAZE.. 

The paper collection I have used is called "Daydream" from Cocoa Vanilla..

100% BOY

I am so excited to bring to you my entry into this months awesome sketch challenge over at Scrap The Boys.. 

As soon as I saw this one I knew I wanted to create with it! 

100% Boy 

I found some incredible speedway themed papers at the new local scrap shop here recently.. 

As a family we go back many generations with speedway and racing,  so it's always fun to feature some photos of my family enjoying the sport with others in the new generation.. 

Hunter is here with his mates that are the kids of family friends at Gympie.. 
Both of their Dad's and grandfather before race.. 

For me it's a great atmosphere to bring up the kids! 

The collection is from Choa Bella.. 
Of course I gave my own little spin to the sketch and clustered some of the layers. 

I first smooshed the white cardstock to add that featured yellow colour base.. 

I love working with really well done boy themed collections and this is one of the best I have found! 
I can see so many layouts and projects being made with this.. I may have to buy another set of packs so I can hoard them too... hahaha..

Out & About

Recently the boys and I were able to enjoy some much needed quality time with friends on the Gold Coast.. We loved being able to walk around Cavill Ave on Surfers Paradise whenever we wanted.. 

I absolutely LOVED putting this base together!! 

I used off cuts from a kit by Twitchit Craft Kits... I first lined the entire white cardstock with double sided tape and glue.. The layers each piece down starting at the bottom corner.. It was so much fun making each piece fit! 

The title cutout is pre-cut from Scrapbook Fantasies..
