Summer Nautical layout

catching up on updating blog posts that were not shared from my facebook page.

This layout was made in OCTOBER 2024 as part of the DESIGN TEAM projects for the NAUTICAL DREAMS collection from  Scrapbook Fantasies .

Summer

I'm so thankful that Alicia, Quentin and the Redshaw family saw the spark in me back in 2024 to get back into crafting. Unfortunately it fell flat pretty quickly afterwards, but I'm not back at it. April 2026.. I am trying to catch up on posting / uploading projects and working on plenty of new one's as well.

Wanting something a little less Nautical but still have a fun beach vibe?!
The Sandcastle picture cut was perfect for this!
Available in store now.
I started off with the weatherboard strip from #5
Then cut the anchor #4 pattern paper 11.5”x8”
Red glitter strip to layer between pattern papers and to back the picture cut.
The hessian pattern on #2 for the rest of the picture cut too.
Summer title cut
Colour words sheet 342434
Waxed thread, Gauze, Blue ink for title and Pinecone ink for edges.

Classic non-Nautical layout

This layout was made in OCTOBER 2024 as part of the DESIGN TEAM projects for the NAUTICAL DREAMS collection from  Scrapbook Fantasies .

Classic Non-Nautical layout

I wanted something classical and non-themed.
This Nautical collection can be used for so much more than beach or sea layouts.
I loved working with the fussy cut flowers and again, used a Mushroom coloured cardstock to soften the base and then added Blue & White misting spraying.
This layout is all about keeping it basic with plenty of layering. Essentially, it can be done within a hour (with pre-cut fussy cutting). So it’s a quick layout that can hopefully inspire even the most time poor crafters.
I don’t have a name for it or photo yet.
I do believe it will fit a wide range of photos and add the title to match afterwards.

This time I wanted something non-nautical.
It’s fun being able to share with you an off themed layout like this with such a deep themed collection.
I started with a Mushroom cardstock base and sprayed Blue & White misting sprays on and drew around the edge to create a boarder with black pen for a fun background.
Using paper #2 I cut several 2.5“ pieces of paper into 4.5 / 4.5 / 4.5 / 3 / 6 / off cut
Then a few 3” pieces into 5 / 4 / 3
The blue & red were both 2.5” wide.
Red 3 / 3 - Blue 4.25 / 1.75
INK & BOARDER all pieces with black.
Plenty of black mats just .25” wider than the pattern paper.
There really is no rhyme or reason for the placements of the paper pieces, just still them down on a diagonal angle and then use foam tape to layer.
Cut off the excess that hangs over the edge and use those to layer some more!
The flowers are fussy cut from the Blue & Red paper #6
Photo mat to fit 5”x7”, however you can adjust it to fit your own needs and add a title to finish it off!

As soon as I got this collection, I knew immediately I wanted to create some thing with the rope boarders on paper #4
So I kept it simple.
Cutting out the boarders first and then just adding layer after layer with plenty of colour popping mats in between.
Fussy cut pieces from-
#1 , #2 , #5 , #6
Papers for layers used-
#1 , #3 , #4 , #6 and red cardstock
Inking with a Pinecone colour to give a deep frame around each mat & rope boarder.
Lastly, I created some clusters with the fussy cut flowers and added a fun Shaker element using the life ring on top.
Sometimes, keeping a design simple and less embellishments can help to highlight the actual reason for the layout. THE PHOTO!
