White With One - Caramel Latte

It's definitely warming up here in Australia, but it's always the perfect time for coffee and some natural fibers.. 
This months mood board looks fabulous and I know you'll have a blast looking though the DT inspiration so much that you'll want to get started on your own layout asap.. 
Caramel Latte is a soft but strong colour, it very reminds me of the outback at the end of the day.. LOVE IT! 

 

WHITE WITH ONE - CHALLENGE BLOG

2019

Using a really fun cut out from Scrapbook Fantasies, I created this page with this as the design point.. 

I found some pattern paper and cardstock that matched the Caramel Latte colour perfectly, along with some Caramel alcohol ink too.. 

Making the back of the layout I actually found quite a relaxing experience!
I usually get a little stressed with these dies as the fussy cutting makes me twitch a little, lol.. But cause this was all straight lined, I loved it!!!!

Taking full advantage of the very small amount of black we are allowed to use, I drew a couple of lines, inked the title and lightly rubbed some on the base with the blending brush.. 

The photo is of my boys with The Flash character at Movie World in December 2019 over the school holidays..

Lasting Memories 521 - Monsters

#521 - Monsters

  Monsters- Did you know that October 25th was originally called Frankenstein Friday? Frankenstein was created in a lab by a mad scientist and is one of my all time favorite Halloween monsters. So I thought it would be fun to create a layout with some sort of monster on it. Whether it is your kid dressed up as one or a sticker you use.

After speaking to some crafty friends about their reluctance to join online challenges because they are often concerned their entry "won’t be good enough”, I wanted to make a DT layout that is as simple as it comes.. cardstock base sprayed with some mist + grey mat with pattern paper on top and over on the side + some netting + more mats & photo + finished with alpha stickers for a title. PLEASE know that there is no such thing as “not good enough”.. Scrapping should be fun, a passion, a hobby! Please don’t be intimidated, come along and join us! 

My Little Monsters features a fun photo of my boys dressed up for Halloween.. I'm not 100% sure, but will guess about 5 years ago..

Lasting Memories 520 - Pumpkin Spice

520 - Pumpkin Spice

- Pumpkin Spice- Pumpkins, Pumpkins everywhere. You can find Pumpkin Spice in just about anything! So this week let's create a layout with a pumpkin on it and and some glitter somewhere to represent that spice!!

Halloween

I will admit that as a DT I did struggle with this one.. In Australia, a minority join in the Halloween celebrations and we simply just don't do the pumpkin thing! 

So I was actually about to pass on this challenge and leave it up to my fellow DT members, but when I found these 2 pieces of very very old Graphic 45 papers hiding in my stash, I knew it would be perfect!! 

Although, I did chose to not use a photo on this layout, I have enough scraps leftover that I can make a second page for a double layout which I will be able to add photos to if I ever had the right one's.. 

This design was loads of fun and had plenty of "just wing it" as I went along.. lol

Layers and layers of black and white really make the orange and green POP!

For the spice element, I added some micro beads to either side of the center block and some glitter to the hanging pumpkins..

Breast Cancer Awareness- This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of our loved ones who have suffered this disease let's create a layout this week that is mononchromatic pink. You may include black and white as well.

oh my goodness... seriously.... how super adorable is my cousin's little girl..... 

oh my heart melts!

So this week we are asking you to do quite a special layout in relation to Breast Cancer month, we want to see Mono Pink layouts... 

We are all sadly effected by this horrible disease in one way or another.. 

This layout took me HOURS! for all the wrong reasons.. Everything I wanted to do wasn't working out or didn't have the right products on hand... It was actually quite draining and exhausting... After about 4 hours of getting no where, I got up from my desk and walked away.... Did some washing and folding, cooked and ate dinner.. Then came back to the desk... Slide everything away and started with a fresh workspace... I went back to basics with this one.. I have done the bling line trick a couple of times before in the past and thank goodness it popped up in my head just as I was starting to feel a little better about the situation.. lol 

The pink writing paper at the back is by Cocoa Vanilla.. 

The pink glitter paper made by American Crafts is such a soft shade, I got that from Spotlight.. 

The Hello Kitty face was from a swap many years ago.. 

"smile" is from a ready made cut sheet from Scrapbook Fantasies.. 

Doily from my stash and a Sizzix wreath die cut were the only other things on this layout.. 

It's so simple in the end and you know what - I love it!

White With One - Kelly Green

Ekk.. Another Green layout..
As many of you know, Green is one colour I cringe at and try not to use in my crafting unless I need to. So this layout was a challenge for me. Although I don't mind this green, it's kinda like the staple normal green you might find in a packet of texta's, crayons and pencils.. 
I love this sketch and was looking forward to working with it.. Don't forget though, you don't have to use it if you don't want to, it's your choice!

I struggled a bit with the inspiration sketch, so decided to do my thing as I kinda already knew what I had wanted to do anyway... And guess what... It all came together perfectly as I had pictured.... YAY! 

I started off with Colour Cuts designed by Alicia Redshaw at Scrapbook Fantasies and a Cut to You quote design... LOVE THESE!  

This page was super easy to put together.. I used a couple of different Alcohol inks to splosh the background of the quote..   and then layered almost the whole packet of colour cuts.. 

I wanted to photo to stand on it's own a little better, as it was getting lost with the clusters.. So I matted it with a piece of grey cardstock.. Made a huge difference!

 Even though this is a fairly flat page design, I still wanted to pop up some of the colour cuts to add that dimensional element look... So I just popped some foam tape behind a few of the pieces and added some clear bling drops..

Lasting Memories - 516 - Flowers

#516 -  Spring Flowers
Australia - September is Spring, it truly is the most beautiful time of the year in Australia. The wildlife, trees, and flowers are in abundance. I would like to see FLOWERS on your layouts this week. It can be embellishments, stamped images or on pattern paper.

*As an Australia DT member here at Lasting Memories, I am excited to share the very best of our Paradise land with you. Yes, if you turn the world upside down, we would be the right way up. It's finally time to pull back out the swimming togs and head back to the beach and watering holes, with flowers blooming and trees blowing in the wind it is picture perfect! *

This collection from Studio 73 was released earlier in the year and just fits this theme perfectly! 

I am so in love with this layout, I think I've actually outdone myself yet again! lol.. 

The photos of my gorgeous niece and nephew honestly make the layouts one of my favourites, ever!!!

Honestly, I just can't stop looking at these little beauties!!

Even though it's a double layout, the pages work on their own as well if needed.. 

Anyway, I really didn't do too much to this layout other than the fussy cutting, twine and some gauze.. I wanted to keep it with a simplicity of clean with layers.. 

I actually created this layout during an online zoom crop with some friends in the USA.. It's a great time to craft together, share ideas and learn new things too.. 

I took the opportunity to do plenty of fussy cutting for this double layout.. 

I have been so excited being able to share my challenges with you so far this month! 

As a DT we tend to take turns each month selecting challenges and as I mentioned earlier this month, September is MY MONTH....

I love to travel, but due to the restrictions and the truly bizarre situation we have ALL found ourselves in this year, I wanted to take a crafty trip around the world, so each week we are focusing on a different county..

Lasting Memories 515 - Ying Yang

515 - Blue & White + balanced 

In out trip around the world this week, we are focusing on a cool Asian custom in China... 
The Chinese are well known for their Feng Shui. So this week we would love to see a layout that is balanced! Using the colours of the Chinese calendar - White and Blue.

*The Chinese year of the White Metal Rat has a main element of Water and is the "yang" and represents the beginning of a new day. The Chinese year colour Blue is for Trust, Honesty, and Loyalty. It increases the Immune Protection. It encourages us to open up with enthusiasm towards everything in life and make things wonderful around us, while at the same time helps us live in harmony.*

Let's keep this one SWEET and SIMPLE.. 

Plenty of layers and balancing it out on either side.. 

These photos feature the daughter of my beautiful cousin.. After restrictions were lifted here in Queensland, I was able to head down to Gladstone for a weekend.. I was so lucky to have dinner with my cousin and her adorable little girl for a girls night... I loved it so much and can not express just how much I needed that time with them!!

I usually do "pretty" layouts when featuring this cheeky little lady, but thought the black and white photo captured some fun and thought I'd work great on this layout too.. 

I wanted to keep the blue soft and the embellishment elements minimal to capture the joy of the photos..
