Lasting Memories 456 - Celebrate your country

456 - Celebrate YOUR country!
To keep in line with our Patriotism theme this month, we are asking you to celebrate your own country this week!
I can't wait to share my very Aussie layout with you all. 

LASTING MEMORIES LAYOUT CHALLENGES 

How are you doing with your layouts so far this month? If you've struggled a little, then this will be the perfect opportunity to catch up..

Make sure you keep an eye on my blog, as I've got plenty of other makes (especially cards) to share with you all..

This is one of my favourite paper collections from Kaiser.. "Open Road"

I recently joined in an online crop, the theme was very Australian in the challenges.. Unfortunately, even though I was so excited to join in, I wasn't able to as I had nothing that would suit the theme.

THEN JUST A WEEK LATER - I found this paper pad at Spotlight... lol..

I knew I had this DT make coming up, so quickly snapped it up and were very excited to finally be able to use something Aussie themed..

Using plenty of goodies from the 6x6 paper pad, I measured and cut, measured and cut then matted and matted.. lol..

I decided that even though our outback colours are very deep and neutral tones, I wanted to spark it up with some blue that can be spotted on the Kookaburra's..

Then once it was all stuck down, it just didn't look finished.. So one of the papers is actually full of these little tag things.. Out came the scissors for fussy cutting. I back these with 3D tape and popped them up for some extra dimension on the layout..

2019 - 365 days to smile, laugh, love and make memories

Hey there scrappers... Hope you're all well..
It's winter here in the Land Down Under and man we are coping it at the moment.. 

About a month ago we had super cold weather for a week and it seems the cycle is coming back, as this week is suppose to be quite cool again.. 

No, it doesn't get as cold here in Central Qld as the rest of the state or country, we are lucky! However because it is always hot here, that when it gets cold, we seem to feel it quickly! ekk.. 

Anyway, the colder evenings have been perfect excuses to put on the heater and craft away the night.. There isn't much on tv so I generally put either Netflix or Foxtel on the ipad in front of me and just have fun in my own space while the boys are having showers and winding down themselves too..

Tonight I'm here to share with you a really cool sketch challenge that I joined in with a facebook group.. As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted IN! 

 I will actually probably end up taking my photo off and putting a photo on of a friends little girl for a gift.. 

Following the required sketch & “girly” theme, I grabbed the chance to do a layout about me with plenty of pink & other fun colours! Using the Cocoa Vanilla - “More than words” collection..

 Tip- add in some black matting and elements among colours to make them pop! 🥰

Cards - March 2019

This is the first of quite a few posts coming up featuring the recent cards I've made for swap groups.. 

As I had taken quite a long break from crafting (2yrs), then started and again took a 6 month break after I made like 4 things... I wanted something to hold me accountable and commit to make sure I get the crafting therapy in that so many of us crafters love! :) 

So I signed up to a few card swap groups here in Australia and of course I am not back on the Design Team for Lasting Memories Layout Challenges... These have been so good at keeping me on track and making sure I have no excuse to put things off and cause the swaps all have different themes or folds it's actually been quite fun learning new styles. 

In  the coming weeks I will be catching up on posting these cards here to my blog.. So please do come back and check them out...

Lasting Memories 454 - Red White & Blue

Our theme for July is 'Patriotism'... So all of our challenges are set to celebrate our countries in some form..
As the USA have just celebrated July 4th - Independence Day, we are asking for a RED, WHITE & BLUE themed layout..
As I'm an Aussie, we don't celebrate this day, so I decided to do a Red, White & Blue based layout featuring a school theme for my DT make..

LASTING MEMORIES LAYOUT CHALLENGES 

Welcome back Crafters.. I have been in crafting overload lately and have been loving the mojo spilling out! I haven't been able to share the creations just yet, but am keen to very soon..

First on the list is this DT make for Lasting Memories. As we don't celebrate Independence Day here in Australia, I chose to make a layout based on the Red, White & Blue theme instead.. I used the old Kaiser "School Days" collection to feature an adorable photo of Hunter receiving an award at school last month..

I started off with the red base and lightly swiped some white gesso at the top and bottom just o highlight the separation between the coloured pattern papers..

I have only torn the bottom, to add that extra bit of texture but only subtly..

My favourite part of this layout is definitely the little word descriptions.. These were cut off another pattern paper in the collection. I matted on some blue cardstock that matched the blue background paper. The super cute tags are also matted and then slid under the definitions.. 

To add some elements and embellishments, I used a small background numbers stamp, word tags popped up with 3D tape and some twine.. Quite a simple layout, but with the right papers it has just enough in it to keep the eye entertained and engaged..
