Classic non-Nautical layout

 catching up on updating blog posts that were not shared from my facebook page. 

This layout was made in OCTOBER 2024 as part of the DESIGN TEAM projects for the NAUTICAL DREAMS collection from  Scrapbook Fantasies .

Classic Non-Nautical layout

I wanted something classical and non-themed.

This Nautical collection can be used for so much more than beach or sea layouts.

I loved working with the fussy cut flowers and again, used a Mushroom coloured cardstock to soften the base and then added Blue & White misting spraying.

This layout is all about keeping it basic with plenty of layering. Essentially, it can be done within a hour (with pre-cut fussy cutting). So it’s a quick layout that can hopefully inspire even the most time poor crafters.

I don’t have a name for it or photo yet.

I do believe it will fit a wide range of photos and add the title to match afterwards.

I'm so thankful that Alicia, Quentin and the Redshaw family saw the spark in me back in 2024 to get back into crafting. Unfortunately it fell flat pretty quickly afterwards, but I'm not back at it. April 2026.. I am trying to catch up on posting / uploading projects and working on plenty of new one's as well. 

This time I wanted something non-nautical.

It’s fun being able to share with you an off themed layout like this with such a deep themed collection.

I started with a Mushroom cardstock base and sprayed Blue & White misting sprays on and drew around the edge to create a boarder with black pen for a fun background.

Using paper #2 I cut several 2.5“ pieces of paper into 4.5 / 4.5 / 4.5 / 3 / 6 / off cut

Then a few 3” pieces into 5 / 4 / 3

The blue & red were both 2.5” wide.

Red 3 / 3 - Blue 4.25 / 1.75

INK & BOARDER all pieces with black.

Plenty of black mats just .25” wider than the pattern paper.

There really is no rhyme or reason for the placements of the paper pieces, just still them down on a diagonal angle and then use foam tape to layer.

Cut off the excess that hangs over the edge and use those to layer some more!

The flowers are fussy cut from the Blue & Red paper #6

Photo mat to fit 5”x7”, however you can adjust it to fit your own needs and add a title to finish it off!

I'm so thankful that Alicia, Quentin and the Redshaw family saw the spark in me back in 2024 to get back into crafting. Unfortunately it fell flat pretty quickly afterwards, but I'm not back at it. You A Maze Me

 

I'm in the middle of catching up on projects that have been shared on my facebook page but not here, so here we go --- 
This layout was made in May 2024 as part of a cyber crop challenge from  Scrapbook Fantasies .

You A Maze Me

The first challenge inspiration for the past Cyber Crop over at Scrapbook Fantasies was to use the three Primary colours.

I chose to use the fabulous “Imagine With Alice” collection..

Using the yellow & white chevron paper for the base, adding paint on a foam brush.. Layering with plenty of white spray mist and some stencilling with red & blue circles.

The rest was pretty easy with some fussy cutting pieces around the Red Glitter photo mat.

The photo features my amazing boys during a holiday adventure visit to a Maze park on the Sunny Coast a couple years ago. (hidden journaling on the backside of the layout)

This was a challenge inspired layout using Red / Blue / Yellow.

I was in the car on the way down to Maryborough actually when I saw the challenges released during the Cyber Crop at Scrapbook Fantasies over the weekend.

As I sat there scrolling through FB, I read this challenge and knew straight away I wanted to scraplift one of my own designs from a few years ago.

I wasn’t sure if it’d work out or not. And I will admit it took me a couple of goes to create the base, but I am certainly loving it now!

Very easy techniques on this page done well is what makes this so eye catching for a basic layout. Simple allows the design to tell the story.

Which this does beautifully for our memories.

The photo captures my boys visiting a Maze world on the Sunshine Coast.

It has loads of extra puzzles & games. Fun family themes with some fairy tale’s featured for a fun & whimsical experience.

It’s great when a strong feminine vibed collection like this “Imagine With Alice” can be flipped to suit a great boys themed layout too.

Construction safety first

 Over at Scrapbook Fantasies, they held a January cyber crop to say “goodbye 2023”.. Definitely something I felt would assist me in moving in the right direction for 2024..

With help via zoom from the beautiful ladies in the USA, I managed to put together two basic but meaningful layouts.

This one was for challenge 4- use shades of one colour.

I choose the yellow colour that is featured in the pattern paper designed by Alicia Redshaw. Using the black & white as accents to highlight the layout design too.

The photos are of Hunter in 2016 marking out his safety zone with his toy dumb trucks..

It was so much fun putting this layout together using a twist on the grid pattern. The diagonal triangles placed in just the right position on each grid square set it out to be orange strips, similar to the "caution tape".. 

The extra element of the grid stencil on the base white layout isn't as prominent in these photos, however very eye catching in person.

Forrest Friends layouts

Welcome back Scrap Crazy crafters... I am loving having some of my mojo back and getting back into the creative flow. As you all know, I love a good challenge and love a Sketch challenge even more. 

So I searched through some of my old favourite challenge blogs and knew that Lasting Memories wouldn't let me down. And they certainly didn't with their April month long Sketch challenges. 

LM # 695 - Feeling Sketchy 2 photo sketch

I had so much fun playing with this Kaisercraft collection - Forrest Friends that I decided to make two layouts using the same sketch. 

The first interruption with one photo and an offset journal card instead. 

Welcome Baby

I used a large 12x12 stencil to add the ink texture to the base to create a pattern paper base. 

Finished it off with plenty of collectables in their clusters too. 

For the second interruption I stuck to the two photo idea, however changed up the pattern paper strips to actually be full layered mat pieces. These are actually the leftover scraps from the layout above. 

I purposely chose not to add the arrow bottoms on either of the layouts, as the collection papers just weren't giving me the feel for it. It's a cute soft baby range. 

These layouts will be a gift for a friends soon to arrive baby boy, and therefore do not have photos attached or a title for this second layout. All will be added after the special little fella arrives.

Autumn Twilight double page layout

 Threw together this double page layout at the end of October, following an inspirational example sketch used in an online virtual retreat.. Being a "fall / autumn" themed collection felt perfect as the sassy ladies in the USA that were also doing the retreat had Fall themed collections to work with too.

Of course, like normal I did change a couple things up with the sketch.. Mostly the photo mats. I kept the 5 panels on the base for both sides and used the smooshing technique underneath for some colour. I am absolutely stoked how this actually ended up. Quite a easy layout to put together and even better since I had pre fussy cut a 12x12 sheet probably close to 2 years ago.. lol

Floral - Romantic Soul layout

 A basic but cute layout put together using the Scrap Boys - Romantic Soul collection for an online challenge group. 

We had to follow a sketch (which I adapted a little bit 😆) and use a Floral theme.. 

Although this one was a little hard to photograph as it looks quite one dimensional on the screen, but in real life the layers definitely pop and it's quite an eye catching layout with the busy background..

Outback Eve - striped based layout

 Last month within an online craft group, we started to share sketch layouts for us to complete "just for fun"... I love this concept as it's much more enjoyable.. I tend to "enter" something if there is no winner or prize.. I'm so non-competitive, I'd just rather not take part.. So this JUST FOR FUN idea is perfect.. :) 

Anyway, the sketch is below.. It features loads of long thin strips for the base. Instead of cutting into a new paper collection, I decided to dig back into this OUTBACK EVE collection - Kaisercraft as I had plenty of 12" scraps leftover. I cut a bunch of them into half inch strips and left them at 12" long until I torn each one at the top & bottom as I was planning them for placement. 

I did a quick dab of smooshing with the pink ink and then a dabble of soft stenciling with green ink, to coordinate with the colours of the collection.. 

As you can see, I did change the photo mat sizing up a little bit, just cause I know I won't use that many photo on a layout.. I'm very much in awe of people that are able to get so many on a layout, it looks amazing, but my brain just can't seem to put them together.. ehh..
