Lasting Memories - Floral Wreath

After a couple of weeks of making cards, I'm so happy to be back with a layout today.. I ordered some photos online via BigW and they finally arrived.. I have been biting to finally get started on a hanging pocket album using the photos that a speedway friend Wade Aunger took of my on Australia Day this year.. (26th January 2019 - Brisbane, Qld)

This will actually be the second page you see when flipping through the album, it will be the first 12x12 design, so it needed to be a big and bold statement piece, but staying with the soft colours that will flow through.. This challenge by the Lasting Memories challenge blog was perfect inspiration for this layout and I had an image in my mind the moment I read  the challenge.. It looks amazing in real life and is exactly the way I wanted it! So happy right now I can't even explain.. lol

First, I set out the base and sort out my design before I start.. I tend to be a quick scrapper, so I find taking a little bit of time at the start to do this helps to assist with making less mistakes.. I still wing it with small elements later on in the layout,  but like to get the big stuff organised!

I torn up the pattern paper just below half way and again a couple inches down. I have saved the scrap piece for another page. I backed this onto the cream cardstock.
Slotting the photo under the bottom pattern paper piece make it much easier for me to add in the flower wreath over the top.
I used this circle template as my guide to wrap the wire into a circle for the wreath effect.

I have  been totally addicted to Skin Wars on Netflix lately. It was fun although a little distracting at times to have a creative show on while I was crafting.. lol...

I used the burst stencil on the bottom left and top right of my photo just to add some extra texture and layer to the flower clusters.
And some silver and petal pink inks on the wood veneer title piece.

This is where me winging it comes back into play. Even though I had set out the big items, the little elements like all those small flowers and leaves are slotted in wherever my eye catches.

Thank you so much to the Lasting Memories challenge blog for giving me the first inspiration to get this album started. I'm excited by this first piece and can't wait to get onto the next piece so it all starts to come together soon hopefully!
Drop on over to the Lasting Memories blog, check out the challenge and be inspired to link up your own piece..
Toni.. xoxo
