Lasting Memories 452 - Everyday Outdoor Activities

DT Button

LM#452  - 'Everyday Outdoor Activities'
Our theme this month is 'Summer Fun and the Outdoors'.
Your challenge this week is to scrap those 'everyday outdoor activities' including outside playing, relaxing, working, mowing, hiking, etc.

Welcome back to my next DT reveal for Lasting Memories.. I am so overwhelmed by the response I had from my last layout I have actually decided to keep the flow of the papers going for this one.

This time I have used a photo of my boys enjoying the nearby "Upper Stony Creek" in the State Forrest. This is one of the most spectacular and naturally beautiful fresh water places our area has to offer. It is quite popular with the locals and let's be honest, with all the swimming and sports my children do, an "everyday outdoor activity" for us is very similar to this! lol..

Again I used the papers for layers from the Kaiser "Hide & Seek" collection. The outside boarder of this layout though has some modelling paste to add that surprising yet subtle element.

The chipboard pieces are from Celebr8... These I have only just discovered over the last few months and have to admit to LOVING them!!!   The frames are actually the outside of the chipboard pieces that keep it all together, so they aren't really supposed to be used. Just cut off the design piece and throw these scraps away, but no no, not me!! I get such a feeling of accomplishment being able to use up as much as I can and waste little..

I left my title "blessed" natural but did heat emboss the } bits with Gold powder to match in with the paper tones and colours.
I used tearing and different sizes of scraps for the layering to really give it dimension and a sense of character. It's a "boys" layout, so really wanted to make sure if hat that feel. The photo is quite large 8"x10"  which fits perfect for this layout design.
What do you think?

Thank you very much for joining me today and I'm so excited to be able to share with you all the creations for my first month back joining the Lasting Memories Design Team!
I really hope that you will drop by the blog and check out the inspiration from the rest of the team members and then get creative to link up your own entry.. There is plenty of options for this challenge theme, we all have some Outdoor Activity photos laying around somewhere.. lol

Thanks again, Toni.. xoxo

Lasting Memories 450 - Vacation Photos

Big news scrappers!!!
I'm so excited to be able to announce that I have been accepted onto the Lasting Memories Layout Challenge blog.. This was the very first blog that I was a DT member for many years ago.. I am beyond stoked that I am back to join the other DT members and share plenty of inspiration with you.

LM#450  'Vacation Photos'
Our theme this month is 'Summer Fun and the Outdoors'.
Your challenge this week is to scrap those wonderful vacation photos. Anything goes and if you don't have vacation photos, then do a 'staycation' layout.

For my first layout back as a DT I'm so excited to share this layout. I have taken a slight twist to the challenge and actually used a photo that was taken on the day off of a working trip.
I was chosen along with these 3 guys for an experience of a lifetime in my passion for being a Speedway Steward / Official. I am so lucky to have been able to do it with them, our mentors and our handler... :)

As always I start off by laying out my page with the general design concept of what I want.. This is actually the first time I have cut up a photo and matted it for this effect. I LOVE IT!
This above photo is my work in progress and I'm that weird crafter that always clears the desk and fully resets everything (putting everything away in it's correct spot, leaving the glass cutting mat empty and clear)..

I used a beautiful brown for the base that matched with the polka dots on this pattern paper. It is the backside piece from Ultimate Crafts "L'aquarelle Designs" collection.. A stunning 12x12 pack that I have not been able to bring myself to actually use until now.
Then I added some white Gesso to the sides in a wide sweep so to add an element to catch the eye but not to over power..
Plenty of layering using the Kaiser "Hide and Seek" collection.
Twine and the use of 3D tape gives the extra feel of dimension too.

I have not added a journal card yet, but I will soon. I will add it to the left side of the large photo matt.

Well there we go. Thank you very much for joining me today and I'm so excited to be able to share with you all my big news of joining the Lasting Memories Design Team!
I really hope that you will drop by the blog and check out the inspiration from the rest of the team members and then get creative to link up your own entry.. There is plenty of options for this challenge theme, we all have some Vaycay photos laying around somewhere.. lol

Thanks again, Toni.. xoxo

Unique

Ok, stop the presses - check out this sketch!

No photo description available.

Ahh yes! How seriously beautiful is this! WOW!
Sketches in Thyme 375

There are soooo many pretty things you can do with this ----
Well, guess what I did.... Hmmmm...
Made it into a boys layout!

Unique

Using an old Kaiser range "Attitude" I adapted this truly beautiful sketch into a rads boys layout..

This super cute photo of my little man was taken at the creek at our local forest. It's such a beautiful fresh water swimming hole that is very popular with locals and tourist.
I had quite a lot of these papers still left as I love them so much I seem to dodge away from using them, BUT that is not what we are suppose to do as crafters is it?! We are suppose to use our supplies not just hoard them.. lol..

So not being too shy I chose to really dig in and got very cut happy with the scissors to make sure I got all the right elements on this layout that I wanted.. Instead of flowers I just added those flag ribbon thingys and buttons that coordinate with the papers.
The circles I fussy cut myself as they just happen to be the size between the two circle punches I have.. lol    You can see that I have used some plain card stock circles that I did punch out though, that are slightly larger and smaller than the pattern paper..

Again, instead of the pretty doileys I used fussy cut out these tags and shapes from the patter paper..
And I made sure I added just enough plain coloured cardstock to make the different pp's pop out..

I hope you have enjoyed this layout. It's looks simple but actually took a bit more thinking about the placements and layering than normal.. Can you tell I'm absolutely loving it!
Thanks for joining me today! Make sure you head on over to the Sketches In Thyme challenge blog to see their challenges each week and of course you have until the end of the month to link up your own creations..

Toni.. xoxo
