this is 32

Welcome back scrappers.
I'm so happy to finally be able to get this post up and share this layout. I completed it eariler in the week but haven't had the chance to blog it until now. Thankfully just in time as today is the last link up day for the Sketches in Thyme challenges for this month.

Although of course I love all of the sketches again this month, I was only able to select one and chose Sketch #373.. Such a cute layout and was actually a lot more tricky to put my layout together than I had imagined.. I think it may have been the point it was around midnight when I was creating it. lol.

this is 32

This photo I took on the evening of my 32nd birthday last September. I was lucky to be joined by some friends and family at the local Rodeo for dinner. It was definitely a night that made my heart happy!
I edited the photo using a pink and blue overlay and it matches in with these scrap pieces of papers that I found in my off cut box..

This sketch is so open to possibility I think that was my biggest issue as I was trying to make up my mind with all the options and ideas... lol ..

Unfortunately, I honestly have no idea what collection or range these papers are from as they have been in my scrap box for probably years.. It is definitely a sense of accomplishment though being able to use scraps to create the layout..

I used purple bling for the dots in the sketch and I added some washy tape to the bottom of the page cause silly bit tore just a little too much and so had to cover.. lol
As they say, no mistakes in Scrapbooking, just cover it up and all fixed! :)

Thank you so much for dropping by today, I've got a few goodies like CARDS that will be coming up on the blog during June that I haven't had the opportunity to post up, so please do come back and keep updated.. Of course the best way to keep up in real time is to LIKE my "Scrap Crazy" facebook page..

Finally, make sure you drop on over to the Sketches in Thyme blog and check out their upcoming challenges.. I can't wait to see what next months challenges will be!

Toni.. xoxo

Caterpillar to Butterfly

What the Caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a Butterfly
- Richard Bach

Today I'm here to share with you a simple elegance feel layout that I did inspired by the May sketch challenge over at Let's Scrap Sketches.

I fell in love with this sketch as soon as I saw. I've had it printed out for weeks to do and finally got some time at my craft desk earlier in this week.
In their rules you can make with double layout OR a single layout featuring either of the sides.
Although I have to be honest and admit this entire sketch caught my eye and I would have loved to do both sides, I only had the time to do the left..

I used some photos from my photo shoot with Wade Aunger in January.
The papers are from the Kaiser "whisper" collection..

The flower cluster in the middle is made up of beautiful Prima products, Kaiser mini flowers and more Prima Butterflies. I finished off with some twine around the smaller photo, some extra pearls and a little banner cluster below the bigger photo. The title I choose is a saying instead and it came from a fun Vellum quotes book I have..

I loved the gentle and natural tones that this page has once all put together and wow, doesn't it go with the photos so well! I'm actually a bit proud of myself with this one.. lol

Well, thanks for dropping by today! I always feel very lucky to be able to share my crafting and especially even more so when it's a layout that I fall in love with!!!!!
If you've been caught by the Let's Scrap Sketches layout like me, then drop on over to their challenge blog and link up your own entry. Open until the end of the month.

Shaving Cream card - quick tutorial

I have been asked to share a quick tutorial on how I made this card by a swap group that I am in..
and of course, it's my pleasure..

No photo description available.

First the shaving cream technique.
So I take a baking tray, line with glad bake (or whatever you have on hand - cling wrap or al foil will work too). I spray to cover the whole base with cheap shaving cream. Just the coles brand one is fine if you're only using for crafting..
Using whatever colours you like, drop a few drips of food colouring onto the shaving cream and mix around to make swirls and patterns.. (I used pink & blue)
Then simply place some paper or cardstock on top of the shaving cream and press down to coat the entire surface.. Simply lift up and again place down some thing on the table to protect and catch the excess. Using a ruler just glide and scrape from one side to the other to take off all of the shaving cream..
If you want to make more, put back into the tray and repeat! :)

Give your design some time to dry!

Now onto the card..
Using a blue card base 6" x 8", I scored in the middle and folded to make a card 4"x 6".
I cut the now dry and designed shaving cream paper down to about 3 3/4" x 5 3/4" and stuck to card base.
Then I found a super cute vellum quote tag out of my old DCWV "Quote Stacks" - Nature & Inspiration book.. These are all 3"x 6" tags, but I cut this one down to fit on an off cut scrap piece of black cardstock I had in my stash.. It has then been held together by a pink large Eyelet using one of my favourite tools - the ProvoCraft "Silent Setter". Finished the tag off with two colours of twine, both are from the American Crafts 'premium ribbon' range I believe I got a whole set from Spotlight some years ago.. Attaching this with some 3D double sided tape so that is is raised from the background.

Last bit was the Butterfly diecut. I believe it's a Kaiser die, but can't be 100% certain as it is no longer in it's packet. Sorry, my bad.. lol
I used by Big Shot and more black scrap paper to cut out the butterfly die.
I adhered that nice and strong to the tag with some glue dots.

**
So there we go,  nice and simple and pretty quick card to put together. I love to make quite a few pieces when I play with the shaving cream. So you can make these designs in advance and then the card would probably take no more that 5/6mins to put together..
Thank you for allowing me to share this with you and I hope it inspires you to get creative and make your own soon too!

Little Moments, Big Memories

May is Mother's month at Scrap the Boys... So of course it was a must to make this last night as soon as I saw the challenge.. :)

We are super lucky to be able to feature ourselves this month in the photo with our boys..
So today I am sharing one with Hunter..
It was taken in January at our local beautiful Lagoon when we shared lunch with some of our best mates.. Hunter is always up for a photo when I say "hey, have a selfie with me?!"  lol..

The papers, embellishments, tags, flowers are all from different companies and ranges.. I love how they all come together to rock this page though..

As always I start off by laying the materials on the layout so I have a rough idea of what I'm going to do. Of course plenty of changing and tweaking happens along the way...

The blue tissue paper was down first. Then mesh ribbon and Stag stencil using modelling paste.
The gesso when down next with some far too heavy handed red & yellow misting sprays, so after half of it dried, I quickly went over the top with the gesso again... So it's a bit heavier than  I had intended, but I like it..

Add loads of layers and different elements really make the eye catch to every part of this page with something new to look at constantly. It's quite an immersive layout that you can take quite a few minutes sussing out all the details..

That includes some little details like this one that you don't notice at first, but then it's absolutely gorgeous when you do notice it!

This challenge at Scrap The Boys is running all month! You have the entire month to get some inspiration from their team and then make your own beautiful layout to link up..
Thank you StB for allowing us to celebrate with our this month!
Happy Mother's Day to all that have been blessed with this special gift..
Toni.. xoxo
